Kids Room - Wallpaper

I am still alive! Apologies for the long absence but I have been so busy at work and it managed to kill any creativity I had.  This post is a funny one as I have a love hate relationship with wallpaper. I like the idea of having one wall papered and I adore all the wallpapers I am featuring today BUT it's a big commitment! It's not like paint where you can just paint over if you don't like the colour or you are fancy a change. Wallpaper is a bit more expensive, a total pain to hang and basically that makes it long term:)
But if I were braver this would be some of these options I would go for, not too busy, not too much colour, on one wall perfect!

Friday I'm in Love! Chunky sofas

I love a bulky sofa, they look so inviting! I imagine I could spend hours in one of these reading or catching up on my favourite TV series.
I tend to love grey or dark blue for sofas, especially for this shape of sofa. I also think a chunky thicker knit is the best fabric for these.

In love with Hartô

Hartô is a French design house that curates modern items for the home.  I love the fact that everything is made in France or Europe. As soon as I found out about them whilst on holiday I was smitten. I especially love the mix of light wood and pastel colour.

Lucy's bathroom revamp

Photo from Image
This is the last room in Lucy's future new flat and it's tiny. Again I apologies about the picture - because she hasn't moved in yet so I am using the brochure from the Estate Agents.

Lucy's bedroom revamp

I am still helping out my friend Lucy with her new flat. Hopefully she will get her keys soon and we get cracking! Today I am looking at bedrooms. For me a bedroom as to be light and calm. I have chosen two bedrooms for inspiration and both marry wood, grey and whites perfectly.

Lucy's living room revamp round 2

As I said in my last post, my lovely friend Lucy bought her first flat. It is a lovely one bedroom flat, the rooms are a good size and it gets plenty of light from the big windows. The only downside is the decor is really uninspiring and make the flat look dark. Last time I went for a scandi minimalist look. This week I am I am adding some soft colours to the living space. I based my look around one of my favourite rugs from Urban Outfitters.

Lucy's living room revamp

My lovely friend Lucy just bought her first flat. She hasn't got her keys yet but she has already asked me to think of ways she could make her one bed flat much nicer on a tight budget. Lucy has no furniture and needs to buy EVERYTHING. I have started giving her ideas to create a space she loves.

First up is the living room. At the moment it is really middle of the road and a bit blah in terms of decor. It isn't horrible but it's not exciting either. I think, regardless of the style she is going to go for, there are a couple of things that could be done that would immediately make this room 10x better!
  • Either remove or paint over the wallpaper
  • Paint the window surround white
  • Paint the floor white or sand it and oil it so it's a paler shade
  • Paint the tiles behind the fireplace white or black

Addicted to Monoqi!

One of my dear friend introduced me to this shop, well by introduce me I meant she liked them on Facebook and straight away I was hooked! I love good design and MONOQI seems to curate a beautiful hand-picked collection. They showcase hard-to-find and limited edition design products, making them available for a short time on MONOQI.
I managed to spend a good hour and half today browsing their site and filling my basket ( instead of studying!)
here are some of my favourite items, I would happily have them all in my house.

Let's get out of this country!

I know I haven't written for a while...and I don't even have a good excuse!! I had family round and jus lost my momentum...but here I am, back and ready for another round!
This week I have been desperately wanting to be on holiday and I have been looking on Airbnb for some ideas of where to escape, when I found this gem.
I would love to go to Berlin, it seems there is so much to do and visit and this flat would be the perfect place to stay!

It looks so clean and fresh, exactly what I am looking for in a holiday flat!
And those floors!!!

Converted Pencil Factory in Copenhagen

I was reading the latest Elle Decoration the other day and they are featuring the beautiful home of Ferm Living founder Trine Anderson. They were mentioning how they had transformed their loft in an old pencil factory from the Brygge Island area of Copenhagen...somehow this sounded familiar! I remembered reading about the home of Morten Bo Jensen, Chief Designer at Vipp. They must be living in the same building as they also have a loft in a old pencil factory in Brygge Island...coincidence? I think not! The two flats couldn't be different in style though.
First we have the minimalist monochrome heaven belonging to Vipp's chief designer. I love the clean lines , the light, the cohesiveness of the space

I love the idea of the planter to divide the space. It really brings the whole room together and breaks the black. I also love the wood, it really softens the space.

Now for the Ferm Living loft conversion. Clearly the same building with the black window, spacious proportions but a totally different vibe.  Ferm Living is well known for its colour and patterns and this flat embraces just that. I have to say I love it:)

How dreamy is the parquet flooring! And the colours, it just lifts up the whole flat doesn't it?
Which one do you prefer?
Bon weekend!Bisous x

Colours & Patterns

Photo by Marij Hessel, My Attic
As much as I love a strong monochrome, minimalist look and I aspire to being able to edit more. I don't think it's something I personally could stick to. I love a bit of colour and pattern, it just lift my spirits and makes me smile. There are a few interiors that I have really been attracted to lately, they seem to follow the same rule: a bit of grey, some primary colours, something in wood to warm the look, the whole lot in a white background. It's a formula I see working for me.

I have been looking at redecorating Zoe's bedroom as she would like a double bed instead of a single loft bed. I feel these bedroom are a good inspiration. They feel more grown up than what she has now but are still quite playful and cool. Knowing her tough her bedroom will never be as tidied at these!

More sunshine please!

I feel winter went on and on and on this year. Even when Spring had officially arrived, it was still bitterly cold with snowy days here in Scotland. We had one day of proper sunshine and warmth and it gave me a taste of what I was really missing. So hopefully being in April now the good days are going to be more frequent. Today's post is a bit of outdoor inspiration. I just bought a table and chair on gumtree for our shared garden in the hope that we will be able to use it this summer. However, I would love a beautiful garden with bi-folding doors leading on to the living area.

Mother's day panic!!!

What? You totally forgot to get something for your mum for Mother's Day on Sunday...shame on you!! I don't want to hear how commercial these days are...May I remind you the excruciating pain your mother probably went through during birth just so that you could enjoy breathing and reading my blog of course. And if you are a guy/girl and your lovely partner kindly gave birth to your children then this applies to you too!! I'm not joking...I have to say I am over celebrating my birthday as it is just another way to remind me that I am aging so these days I am much more into Mother's Day. Somehow being the centre of attention for the day softens the blow of cleaning vomit at 3am, change nappies and just constantly juggling six thousands things at the same time...yes that's right, mums are awesome! That's my rant over.
Now, I have been told by some people close to me that I have high standards and I am hard to buy for (!), that's why I have selected a few things that I would really enjoy getting on Mother's Day and hopefully you would too.

  • Invite your mum to a high tea in a lovely tea room. How can you go wrong with yummy sandwiches, great scones and jam?...well you can't! I particularly love this place in Glasgow
  • Amazing body and face lotions from Aesop, beautiful simple design and great products.
  • A hot stone massage: somehow my back is constantly sore, so I dream of one of these; the warmth from the stones is exactly what I need to relax my muscles and ease my aches.
  • A mini candle from Diptyque (I say mini as the normal size candle is extortionate). I love the smell of Baies, Feu de Bois or Pomander, all perfect.

Here you are, you have no excuse now. Have a lovely Mothering Sunday. x
